In one of the most anticipated clashes of the 34th round of Serie A, Napoli hosted Roma at the Stadio Maradona for the Derby del Sole. Following a goalless first half, the encounter came to life after the break. Against the run of play, Paulo Dybala gave the visitors the lead from the spot, but the Partenopei turned the result upside-down through a deflected shot from Mathias Olivera followed by Victor Osimhen’s penalty kick. Nevertheless, there was still one twist left in the tale, with Tammy Abraham snatching a late equalizer for the Giallorossi. So here are our player ratings for Napoli who had to settle for a 2-2 draw in a captivating showdown against Roma.

Napoli (4-3-3)

Alex Meret – 6

The Italian shot-stopper was just beaten from the spot by Dybala and could do nothing about Abraham’s goal, but produced a superb save on Pellegrini’s shot.

Giovanni Di Lorenzo – 6.5

The Napoli captain was a menacing presence on the right flank, playing an integral role in his team’s attacks. He also had the best out of Leonardo Spinazzola and Stephan El-Shaarawy.

Amir Rrahmani – 6.5

The Kosovan provided a solid presence at the back, keeping Sardar Azmoun quiet. Tested Mile Svilar with a late shot.

Juan Jesus – 6

It was a decent outing from the former Roma man but was unfortunate to give away a penalty for a slight touch on Azmoun.

Mathias Olivera – 6.5

A good showing from the Uruguayan who was lucky to see his deflected shot sailing over Svilar for the equalizer.

André-Frank Zambo Anguissa – 5.5

While it wasn’t a poor showing overall, the Cameroonian’s evening was marred by a clear goal-scoring chance that he squandered as well as losing track of Abraham on Roma’s equalizer.

Stanislav Lobotka – 6.5

The Slovakian pulled the string in midfield for Napoli, but like Zambo Anguissa, couldn’t make the most of an inviting opportunity to score.

Jens Cajuste – 6

The Swedish midfielder was happy to do the dirty work but offered little quality when in possession. Won back the back that resulted in Olivera’s equalizer, but it won’t be enough to make a case for a regular starting spot.

Matteo Politano – 6

The Italy international set the right wing ablaze in the first half, combining well with Di Lorenzo. However, his influence dropped in the second period before leaving his place on the pitch for Ngonge.

Victor Osimhen – 7

It was an eventful outing for the former Lille man who was always in the middle of the action. Created several chances for his teammates, but also wasted a few himself. Nevertheless, he at least managed to put his name on the scoresheet thanks to a spot-kick.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia – 6

The Georgian tested Svilar with a dangerous shot in the first half and won the penalty kick that put Napoli in the lead temporarily. But it wasn’t a vintage Kvara showing by any means.

Substitutes

Ahmad Junior Traoré – 5.5

The former Sassuolo had little impact during his time on the pitch. He was irritated by Francesco Calzona’s decision to take him off for Ostigaard just seconds before Roma’s equalizer.

Cyril Ngonge – 6

The winger added some much-needed energy for Napoli in the final third upon his introduction but faded afterwards.

Giacomo Raspadori – N/A

Leo Ostigaard – N/A
