The Anaheim Ducks have made a trade involving veteran centre Adam Henrique. This marks only the second time he has been traded, having only played for two teams previously. Moreover, he does carry a bit of a salary cap hit, but his value to a team in the playoffs is worth it. He is being sent to the Edmonton Oilers alongside Sam Carrick. The Ducks will receive draft picks back in the three team trade.

A Look at the Stats of Adam Henrique at the Time of the Trade

If Adam Henrique isn’t the model of consistency, you might not find the perfect specimen. In all but one of his NHL seasons, he was between 0.47 and 0.69 points per game. Throughout his 14-year NHL career, he totalled 873 games with 250 goals and 253 assists. This season for the Ducks, he is still performing well.  He is 34 and he has 42 points in 60 games. Henrique is a veteran centre and will be a nice addition for a playoff run.

What Does This Mean for the Ducks

For a team like the Anaheim Ducks, they are a team on the rebuild. The Ducks are a young team, and it was nice having someone for those young players to look up to in Henrique. Henrique is a reliable player and a consistent producer. Finally, it was smart of the Ducks to acquire an asset for the future of this group.

What Does This Means for the Team Acquiring the Services of Henrique

Picking up Henrique is a strong acquisition. Even though he only played in the post-season only twice, it was a result of his team, not his individual performance. Most notably, he was a member of the Stanley Cup finalist New Jersey Devils team in 2012. Additionally, he more than proved his worth in that run. He suited up in 24 games with five goals and eight assists for 13 points. If he can come close to a repeat of his production, it would mean big things in 2024.
